Quick and Easy Garlic Noodles are a simple San Fransisco Treat that is excellent as a stand alone meal. But pair so amazingly with crab cakes or most other seafood, and the best part it’s ready in under 30 minutes!!
Garlic Noodles, is a stir fry noodle dish that is very popular in the Bay Area. I was first introduced to this dish on my travels in San Fransisco’s popular China Town, which by the way is a must if ever you are in the Golden Gate City.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS RECIPE:
- Choose the spice level: I love fiery hot pasta, seafood, etcetera, but the hubs not so much. So I can easily customize this dish to add more red chili sauce or not depending on who I’m serving.
- Adaptable: This recipe allows for a lot of modifications and substitutions depending on what you have on hand. Ramen, chinese egg noodles, or even linguini are excellent substitutes for the spaghetti. Want a protein and seafood not your jush use chicken, or any other protein (tofu or pork all taste great), and add any vegetables that need to be used from your fridge.
HOW TO MAKE GARLIC NOODLES
1. Cook the noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, until tender yet slightly firm to the bite or al dente according to package.
2. Prepare the sauce: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic; cook and stir just until fragrant, about 1 minute. Quickly stir in the oyster sauce and cook for about 2-4 minutes and then turn off heat.
3. Add noodles and sauce: Add spaghetti into the sauce using tongs, bringing some of the cooking water with it. Toss until well coated and stir in Parmesan cheese. Splash in more pasta water if noodles are too dry.
