General Tso's Chicken

This General Tso’s recipe is lightly battered crispy chicken breast pieces tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. A Chinese take-out classic that’s super simple to make at home and taste amazing!

Ingredients
  

  • Marinade for the Chicken
  • 1 lb. Boneless & skinless chicken breast cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tsp. Baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Black pepper
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. ginger powder
  • 2 tsp. Shaoxing wine Chinese cooking wine
  • For the Sauce
  • 2 Tbs. Sugar
  • 1 Tbs. Sambal
  • 1 Tbs. Soy sauce
  • 3 Tbs. White vinegar
  • 2 Tbs. Shaoxing wine Chinese cooking wine
  • 1/4 cup Chicken stock
  • 1 tsp. Corn starch
  • For the Batter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Corn starch
  • For Frying & Stir-fry
  • Frying oil
  • 3 to 6 dried chili
  • 4 Cloves garlic roughly chopped
  • ginger paste
  • 1/2 onion chopped

Instructions
 

  • Marinade the chicken using the ingredients for the marinade and set aside
  • mix together all the ingredients for the sauce and whisk well and set aside
  • heat oil in frying pan or cook and then mix batter ingredients and coat chicken well
  • fry chicken until crispy and done about 5-7 minutes remove from oil and place on paper towel to drain
  • in a clean pan heat about 2 TBS of oil add dried chili, onion, ginger paste, and garlic and then sauce that was previously mixed together cook for 2-4 minutes until it begins to thicken
  • add chicken and toss well to cover with sauce and cook for another 4-5 minutes and serve over your favorite fried or white rice.
