General Tso's Chicken

This General Tso’s recipe is lightly battered crispy chicken breast pieces tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. A Chinese take-out classic that’s super simple to make at home and taste amazing!

- Marinade for the Chicken
- 1 lb. Boneless & skinless chicken breast cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tsp. Baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. Black pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. ginger powder
- 2 tsp. Shaoxing wine Chinese cooking wine
- For the Sauce
- 2 Tbs. Sugar
- 1 Tbs. Sambal
- 1 Tbs. Soy sauce
- 3 Tbs. White vinegar
- 2 Tbs. Shaoxing wine Chinese cooking wine
- 1/4 cup Chicken stock
- 1 tsp. Corn starch
- For the Batter
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup Corn starch
- For Frying & Stir-fry
- Frying oil
- 3 to 6 dried chili
- 4 Cloves garlic roughly chopped
- ginger paste
- 1/2 onion chopped
Marinade the chicken using the ingredients for the marinade and set aside
mix together all the ingredients for the sauce and whisk well and set aside
heat oil in frying pan or cook and then mix batter ingredients and coat chicken well
fry chicken until crispy and done about 5-7 minutes remove from oil and place on paper towel to drain
in a clean pan heat about 2 TBS of oil add dried chili, onion, ginger paste, and garlic and then sauce that was previously mixed together cook for 2-4 minutes until it begins to thicken
add chicken and toss well to cover with sauce and cook for another 4-5 minutes and serve over your favorite fried or white rice.
